Airte Introduces Bid & Get Service

Airte Introduces Bid & Get Service

The Nigerian telecommunications market is set to witness another major breakthrough in service delivery for consumers as leading telecommunications operator, Airtel Nigeria introduces the first ever bidding service in Nigeria tagged Bid and Get .

The service is a direct reverse of the traditional concept of auction, where the highest bidder is declared a winner.

With Airtel Bid and Get, a customer whose bid is the lowest and unique automatically wins the bid for the advertised item for the day. The winner can purchase the item for N100 only irrespective of the retail price of the item.

To register for Airtel Bid and Get, customers are to send the word “BID’ to the short code 3210 free of charge, and thereafter participate in the bid by sending their bid amount to the 3210, at N10 for every bid SMS.

The customer whose bid is the lowest and is unique at the end of the bidding cycle is declared the successful bidder and would automatically be eligible to buy the product on offer for N100.
On receipt of SMS informing a participant of winning a particular bid auction, the successful bidder is to send the word “WIN” to “3211” and thereafter, would be presented with his winning at the nearest Airtel office.

Speaking on the latest innovation from Airtel, the Chief Operating Officer, Deepak Srivastava said being another first by the company, the rollout further confirms Airtel’s innovativeness and superior value propositions as it draws closer to becoming the most loved brand in the lives of Nigerians.
According to him, customers including those that have ported from other networks are in for good times as exotic items including top-of-the-range communication devices, house-hold electronic gadgets and other goodies on auction would be won by bidders across the country.

Akanmu stated: “the uniqueness of the Bid and Get Service is that a fix amount of N100 is what a successful bidder pays for any item won, irrespective of the current retail price in the market. The distinction of this service yet again proves that as a company, we dig deeper into the ideas box to bring out impactful propositions that excites not just the customers including the youths, but the entire telecoms market.”

The Airtel Bid and Get auction service is open to both pre and postpaid customers and the first item on auction would be Iphone 5 and Ipad mini communication gadgets.

Brad Pitt bans sex scenes with other women out of respect for Angie

Brad Pitt bans sex scenes with other women out of respect for Angie

According to an article in Esquire, Brad Pitt has placed a self-imposed ban on filming sex scenes with other women out of respect for his partner and mother of his six children, Angelina Jolie. So no other woman gets to kiss those lips and touch that body as long as he's with Angelina. How noble!

Brad 's friend told Esquire: 'This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he's met Angelina. He's crazy about her, and she's the same way about him.'

Kinda understand his fear. Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston when he did Mr & Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie. He admitted falling for her after their steamy love scene. By the time the movie wrapped, they were in love.

RE: APCON Lifts ban on Guinness alcohol beverages certificate

The attention of the management of Guinness Nigeria Plc has been drawn to a press release issued last Friday by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and signed on its behalf by one Nkechi May-Nzeribe. In that press release, Ms. May Nzeribe stated that APCON has, through its Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) Committee lifted the ban placed on Guinness Nigeria Plc because “Guinness complied by withdrawing all advertisements that had been scheduled to run and apologized over the broadcast of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout adverts on Digital Satelite Television (DSTV) outside the prescribed periods allowed by the APCON Code of Advertising and Promotion guidelines”. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Contrary to the claim by APCON in the widely circulated report, Guinness Nigeria Plc had withdrawn the advertisement in question before the meeting of the APCON Council which endorsed the recommendation of the ASP to impose sanction on the company. In fact, the decision by the ASP to recommend the withdrawal of the sanction imposed on Guinness Nigeria Plc followed a meeting between the management of the company, its marketing and media agencies and APCON in which the company established that it was not in breach of the relevant provision of the Code of Advertising Practice and Sales Promotion as of the date the decision by APCON was taken.
At the said meeting, both parties agreed the process of rescinding the withdrawal of certificates of approvals granted to Guinness Nigeria for the advertising of its alcoholic beverages including the submission of a letter by the company stating its side of the story. As a matter of fact, the draft of the letter was jointly agreed with Mr. Ade Akinde, who made input into it and explained that, in view of the fact that the Council of APCON had no scheduled meeting for another few weeks, the submission of the letter with part of the content provided by him was the fastest and easiest way of correcting the error which the ASP had misled the Council of APCON into by its decision to withdraw the certificates of approval earlier issued to the company. Following approval of the draft letter by Mr. Akinde, it was printed on the company’s stationery, signed and submitted to APCON.

Miley Cyrus Shares 'Terrifying' Experience of Living at Haunted Apartment in London

Miley Cyrus revisits an unforgettable experience she once had during a visit to London while she was on a European tour. The 20-year-old singer believes the apartment she rented across the road from Harrods was haunted because she and her family kept witnessing some unexplained events during their brief stay there.

"It was seriously so terrifying. It used to be an old bakery and they turned it into an apartment building, and I was having really crazy dreams and really scary things," she says.

"One night my little sister - it sounds crazy to tell you - but she was standing in the shower and all of a sudden I hear her scream. I run in there and the water had somehow flipped to hot but it was still... It wasn't like the water had just changed, the knob had turned but she hadn't turned it and it was burning her. She was really red," she recalls.

The singer says she herself experienced what she believed as a ghostly sighting. "I thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower so I felt really freaked out. I was sitting there the next night and maybe I'm crazy, but I could have sworn I could see this little boy sitting there on the sink, kicking his feet," she dishes on.

Bizarre things kept happening in the house, according to Miley. Her fiance Liam Hemsworth had his own paranormal experience and so did her aunt. "She starts freaking out. She's like, 'I had no idea what happened but I left the apartment and I came back and all the doors and windows were open. I locked the apartment'," she says.

At first, her mother didn't believe there was anything wrong with the house. "She was getting mad that we were looking into it because she thought it was going to scare Noah [Miley's younger sister]," the former Disney star utters, before adding that her mom later "had an experience" as well.

"We found out that this guy and his son - this guy who owned the bakery, it was one of these where the dad owns it and the dad owns it - and there was this older man that owned it and his son lived with him there, and I guess the wife died or something, she had gotten sick."

"So it was just the son and the dad that lived there in the bakery, and then the dad died and the son took over the bakery, and I thought I was seeing the son. I'm not even kidding."

They eventually packed their bags and moved to the SoHo hotel. "I will never stay there ever again," so Miley Miley Cyrus Shares 'Terrifying' Experience of Living at Haunted Apartment in London

Lagos residents spend N1b monthly for merriment & entertainment

You know what they say, aint no party like a Lagos party. And we are really spending the dough, to the tune of N1billion every month, according to the Lagos State government.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ademorin Kuye said made this known yesterday. He said:
“Over N1billion is spent monthly in Lagos state on entertainment and parties, we have the records to confirm this and these people, how many of them pay tax? The money goes into drinks, wine, food, aso-ebi and all of that and when they spend all of this money; they do not want to pay anything to the government”
"This justified the reason why local Governments demand that anyone organising events in the state must pay the Merriment Tax.”
“There is merriment tax in that constitution, its part of the rate Local Governments can collect. We have not fully utilised the benefit of the entertainment industry in this state”.
So basically, the state government is considering the introduction of merriment/party tax? How is that even going to work? Please share your thoughts on this...

A MAN THREATENING TO KILL EVERY ONE IN LAGOS

Hell was let loose recently in Lagos when a 30-year-old man identified as Kehinde Akinpelu ran amok, armed with a sharp knife, threatening to kill anybody at sight.

The incident which took place at Oloja area of Bariga in Lagos made people living in the street to scamper for safety in different directions.

Unfortunately, a 69-year-old woman, Titilayo Adekoya who lives at number 27 in that street could not escape before the man pounced on her and stabbed her severally. It took the timely intervention of a team of policemen on patrol and agile neighbours to stop the man from severing her body into pieces.

The daughter of the victim, Adebimpe Adekoya, a nurse, told Crime Alert that her mother escaped being butchered by whiskers that fateful day. According to her, “I was seated with my mother at the corridor of our apartment around 12noon that fateful day, when all of a sudden, a man we later got to know as Kehinde Akinpelu, ran into the compound holding a sharp knife in one of his hands and shouting, ‘I will kill every body here today’.

In confusion, everyone around scampered for safety and I joined them. But it was rather late for my aged mother who was tired as a result of the fasting she was about concluding. The man caught up with her and before anyone could come to her aid, he pushed her to the floor and stabbed her at the back of her left hand.

He was about stabbing her further but for the timely intervention of some men in the neighborhood who quickly organized themselves and came to her rescue.

Otherwise, it would have been a different story because from the way he held her to the floor, he was actually bent on stabbing her to death.

The men caught up with him, held him down, and disarmed him; it was a big struggle for them but they managed to overpower him. Luckily, for us, some police men were patrolling the area, so we called their attention to the situation on ground. They came and the man was handed over to them, while Mama was rushed to a nearby clinic.”

Wondering what could be the motive behind Kehinde’s action that very day, Bimpe stated, “that day was the first time I set my eyes on him, no member of this family knew him before then, my brother was also around that very day, none of us knew him before that day, so his actions left every one wondering.

It was after he was arrested that some members of his family went to the police station where he is being detained to plead for leniency in handling the case, saying that he is a marijuana addict and mentally deranged but the police told them to produce a medical prove to that effect before their plea can be considered. Since then, they have not provided any.

D'BANJ SIGN OLAMIDE

Finally I’ve got the much anticipated gist. Badoo is now a confirmed member of Eja Nla family. My source, who is a top insider in the crew, told me that it was not a problem getting Olamide to sign on to DB Records.

Olamide is the hottest “thing” in the music industry today and any track that has his voice on it usually becomes a show stopper. D’banj knows this and gave him a mouth watering deal…

The Kokomaster, according to my source, told Olamide that he could still become everything he wanted to become and even more by working under him. He reminded Olamide that he (D’banj) had to work under Kanye West just to get more international exposure and recognition but that he still remains an independent artiste and his own man.

Olamide naturally likes D’banj and feels at home around him. Naijaloaded.com learnt that he has put pen to paper and is now officially an artiste under D’banj. Remember you read it on Naijaloaded first. *wink!*

Do you think Olamide will get more better under D'banj DB Records?

Private jet owners in Nigeria barred from carrying friends, associates

How can the federal government tell anyone who to carry and not to carry on their private jets? Sounds kinda ridiculous to me but maybe they have a reason for this?

A new policy called the National Civil Aviation Policy, 2013 has been introduced by the federal government banning private jet owners from carrying their friends and business associates on board their aircraft. They are only allowed to carry family members, while companies with private jets are only allowed to carry their employees or members of the Boards of Directors.

Read what the NCAP policy states after the cut...

National Civil Aviation Policy 2013 states
Approval or clearance from the Director-General, NCAA, will not be required from Nigerians operating non-revenue flights with appropriate insurance policies in the following cases:
*For private aircraft owned or leased by individuals, only the family members of the owner/lessee of the aircraft will be permitted on board as passengers.
*For private aircraft owned or leased by companies or corporate entities, only the employees and members of the Board of Directors of the company will be permitted on board as passengers.
*For aircraft belonging to non-scheduled or scheduled operators, only the employees and members of the Board of Directors of the company or the corporation may be permitted on board as passengers; all operators will declare the identities of all passengers on non-revenue charter flights in the appropriate general declaration forms prior to obtaining ATC clearance.

Nigerian carriers operating revenue passenger charter flights will be required to have a current non-scheduled or scheduled operator permit with operations manual that contains flight duty time limitations, which will be strictly monitored on regular basis.

Retention of foreign registered aircraft in Nigeria will not be permitted beyond a period of 15 days from date of entry. However, the Minister of Aviation may, in certain circumstances, grant the extension of this period for up to 60 days.

Anyway, wetin concern us? We no get private jet so...

How Mum Encouraged Me To Go Into Prostitution-Dance Queen Kaffy Revealed

Hate her or love her, Kaffy, the dance queen is not moved, neither is she going to deny it that, she was once encouraged into prostitution by her mother. When they say wonders shall never end, some people may not readily understand until they hear some life testimonies that leave the mouth agape, such is the candid disclosure of popular dancer and musician Kafayat popularly known as Kaffy.

She dropped the bombshell about how her mother nearly made her go into prostitution so as to make ends meet. The talented dancer revealed this while she was addressing a group of youths at a programme held not too long ago.

She divulged this while encouraging the young minds at the event to learn how to read between the lines so that they won’t be guided because sometimes, the people that they look up to may be the one that will lead them astray.

The talented mother of two, also disclosed that she had to pay her way through school as she did not attend the conventional school that every other child attends because she had to wait for the regular school goers to close from school so that she could borrow their books and cover up but luck smiled on her when she made a record for herself and country at Amstel Malta World Marathon Dance, by breaking the existing record for the Guinness Book of World Records through dance. And ever since, she has not relented on her oars.

P Square’s Second Baby's Mother Stuck In London Hospital Over Unpaid Hospital Bill

P Square, Nigeria’s hip hop sensation,  (Paul Okoye), has reportedly abandoned the mother of his second baby in a London hospital where the woman recently gave birth to the entertainer’s baby.

A few weeks after welcoming his first new born baby in Atlanta, P Square – who is also known as P2 – had another baby delivered for him in a London hospital by a former beauty pageant contestant. However, this time, P Square has refused to claim paternal responsibility for the baby boy.

SaharaReporters learnt that the new baby’s mother is Elshama Benson Igbanoi, a 19-year-old and former Miss Plateau State. Our sources disclosed that she gave birth at the Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital on Du Cane Road, London W12 0HS.

Our sources said the new mother had been in touch with P2, but he had not been forthcoming beyond telling her that he plans to arrive in London for a DNA test to ascertain paternity. SaharaReporters spoke to the woman’s father, Benson Igbanoi, in Abuja. Mr. Igbanoi stated that his daughter was faithful to the musician. He also revealed that he had sent several emails to P Square concerning his daughter’s pregnancy for him, but had received no response.

Another source said Elshama's family had contacted Paul Okoye's father and aunt to persuade the musician to accept responsibility for his baby.

Ms. Elshama insists that she never slept with any man except for P2, adding that she lost her virginity to him when she was 17 years old.

SaharaReporters learnt that the London hospital where she gave birth has not received any payments. “The hospital has been harassing both Elshama and her mother to pay hospital bills of over £5,000 that have been incurred,” said one source. The baby boy has been named Michelle Paul Okoye.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur prepares to Cash- In on Remy After QPR Announced a Cut- Price Fee for the Forward.

Queens Park Rangers are relegated from the Premier League after securing 25 points in their 35 games, but it is the services of their young and energetic French winger Loic Remi that’s trending the transfer talks.
At present Liverpool and Tottenham are the two clubs leading the race to sign a player fondly addressed as ‘the new Thierry Henry.’
Arsenal are the other club likely to sign the 26- year- old forward who relegated QPR brought to the Premier League for a club record fee of £10 million, from Olympic Marseilles.
Remy who had a relegation release clause in his contract is presently valued at a cut price of £6.5 million.
Loic Remy.
Loic Remy.
A scorer of goals, quick and can make great runs. His movement is excellent. He’s got the potential to be a really outstanding striker. Remy has 5 goals to his credit in 11 Premier League matches since moving to QPR in the New Year.
At the moment Liverpool are ahead of the other two potential buyer in the race to sign the player as Brendan Rodgers is good admirer of Remy’s versatility (he can also play along the flanks.) Remy’s £75,000- a- week wages is also within the club’s reach, especially given the cut- price transfer fee.
Tottenham are also in the race to sign the France international who QPR’s chief executive Tony Fernandes, brought to the Premier League to help ease the woes of an impending relegation for the Rangers , in January.
Asked following QPR’s relegation if the Premier League is home for him, Remy replied: “I feel like it is, in every way. There’s more pressure and there’s more contact, though there is more space, too.
“They play deep here and I like that. It’s the perfect league for me.”

An Open Letter To Arsenal Manager From A Sad Fan

Dear Arsene wenger
wenger_2914377I became an Arsenal Supporter just a year after you joined the club, you brought a big change to us and we give you the credit of building a great team. It’s seven seasons since we last won silverware and the team is deteriorating slowly by slowly. My only question to you is, “Where is the old Arsene Wenger we knew” who took us from shame to fame, who lead us to glory. Match after match we’re looking awful, your squad planning is becoming worse day after day, you give players I won’t mention chances to play while we can all see its like they are not ready to deliver. Leaving players on the bench whom, when given the chance, they play their hearts out. Have you lost your touch or what? Why do you want to abuse the trust we’ve given you for all those seasons you’ve been with us?
Your always giving out all our best players and replacing them with others that can’t even come near their standards, and leaving players who are always disappointing. We’re losing hope with our team, if all you fight for is a top four spot then what will we ever achieve? if you really care for our team please do something quick.
Lastly you always complain about the budget when all of us can see that you do sell players worth a lot and we never buy quality players worth the same prize or even near the same. please I beg of you,and again beg of you bring our old Arsenal back.
That’s all I can tell you. You’re the only one who can wipe the tears were shedding away from our eyes.

Legend set to take 25 consumers to Dubai in season 2 of Real Deal Promo

Legend Extra Stout, the fastest growing stout brand from the stable of foremost brewer, Nigerian BreweriesPlc, has launched the second edition of the Real Deal National Consumer Promotion.
The brand is however set to capitalise on the success of the first edition, held in 2012. Just like the inaugural edition, thousands of lucky consumers will be rewarded via a Lucky-Bottle-Top-Offer. To win, consumers will simply buy a 60cl 0r 33 cl bottle of Legend Extra Stout, look under the crown cork and win whatever prize found printed under the crown cork.

Prizes under this category include 32 inch TV sets which would be won by 350 consumers, 720 units of 130 litre refrigerators and 720 BlackBerry Bold 6 handsets. Other prizes include airtime of various denominations, umbrellas, T-shirts, face caps and free drinks.

Legend Extra Stout is however taking consumer reward a notch higher by sponsoring 25 lucky consumers to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, for what the brand has termed the shopping experience of a lifetime. The brand has chosen to describe the 25 lucky consumers as ‘Legends’.
Mr. Walter Drenth, Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc. shed more light on this at a special media parley held at the Bheerhugz Café, Ikeja Shopping Mall, in Lagos. He said Legend Extra Stout will be taking “25 lucky ‘Legends’ to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, on an all-expenses-paid trip. And all that these 25 lucky ‘Legends’ will be doing in Dubai is to shop!”
He spoke further: “The catch is that these ‘Legends’ have to race through selected shops in Dubai and they have one minute to race through the stores and pick items, up to a maximum of N1 million in value.”
To emerge in this category, consumers have to look out for a numeric code under their Legend Extra Stout crown corks. They will then text this number to 30380 at the cost of N10 only. Electronic draws will be held in Lagos and Port-Harcourt to pick winners in a transparent manner.
Mr.Drenth urged the brand’s consumers to participate in the Legend Real Deal National Consumer Promotion. He said: “As we can all see, it’s the Legend Extra Stout season of rewarding numerous customers for their patronage. We urge loyal consumers of Legend to participate in this consumer promotion for the opportunity of winning great prizes.”
Mr Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Manager, Legend, Gulder and Life, also of Nigerian Breweries Plc, promised that the consumers will be taken on a tour of interesting places in Dubai, during their stay. He also added that the items picked by the lucky consumers during their Dubai shopping spree experience would be delivered to their residential addresses in Nigeria.
Mr Agu used the opportunity of the media parley to assert that Legend Extra Stout is Nigeria’s fastest growing stout brand.
He said: “While the volumes are there to ascertain this claim, you can also do a simple test. Simply go to any restaurant, bar or locations where alcohol, especially stout brands are served. You will find that Legend Extra Stout constitutes a very significant percentage.”
This corroborated the earlier assertion by Mr.Drenth in his speech. The Marketing Director earlier stated: “For more than 20 years, its unique taste has endeared it to the heart (and mouths) of consumers. And the end result? Consistent year-on-year growth; an expansion in share of stout market; increased Top of Mind Awareness among the brand’s target audience, amongst several other positive indices. As you all recall, Legend Extra Stout won the Gold Quality Award at the 51st Monde Award ceremony held in Athens, Greece, last year.”
The 2013 edition of the Legend Real Deal Promo which will formally commence on Wednesday, May 1, will end on Sunday, June 30.
