No office is worth the blood of any Nigerian: Jonathan told to maintain his word

A group, the Nigerian Christian Graduates Fellowship (NCGF) has tasked President Goodluck Jonathan to keep faith with his statement that “no office in the country is worth the blood of any Nigerian” by ensuring that no life is lost on account of political activities leading to the 2015 Presidential election.

The immediate past National President of NCGF Prof. Vincent Iyawe made the appeal to President Jonathan while speaking to Vanguard.

Iyaye, who is the Provost, Collage of Medical Science, University of Benin, spoke shortly after their all night prayers for Nigeria, the churches, the body of Christ, all Christians and NCGF as part of the preparation for the group’s forthcoming national conference billed to hold in Anambra state.

Flanked by his successor, Dr. Samuel Itina, the group also advised the president to ensure that representatives of the people in the proposed national conference are appointed through their Senatorial Districts on equal numbers as well as from the grassroots.

They cautioned against the conference being hijacked by the political elites to the detriment of the common people.

“President Jonathan has always said and we agree with him that no office in Nigeria is worth the blood of any Nigerian. We are pleading with him again to match his words with action by ensuring that the blood of Nigerians will not be spilt for anybody to occupy any office in the country.

“He should equally not allow any politician to go out spilling the blood of Nigerians for any office, and the security agencies must do their duties according to their conscience.

“When you see what is happening in Rivers State it is difficult to accept what he has been telling Nigerians about securing lives of the people, we are confused in our mind, if he is really meaning what he is saying.
